In this August 26, 2021 article for The Guardian, Damien Gayle reports on the final results of the inquest launched after the death of BBC Radio presenter Lisa Shaw who died last May 21, 2021, a few days after she received her first dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

According to Karen Dilks, senior coroner for Newcastle, “Lisa died due to complications of an AstraZeneca Covid vaccine”. Tuomo Polvikoski, a pathologist, told the coroner that Shaw was fit and healthy before receiving the vaccine and that the clinical evidence “strongly supports the idea that it was, indeed, vaccine-induced”.

Lisa suffered from vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia which causes blood clots.

In the UK, the use of AstraZeneca has been restricted to those over 40 years old while several countries have imposed similar restrictions or have completely suspended the use of the vaccine entirely.
