• Simply reporting the cases does not allow decision-makers to see the real impact of the disease on the country’s health care system. How many patients need to be urgently tested, and how many had other illnesses like flu, common cold, sore throat, or those with comorbidities that led them to seek medical help, later on, tested positive through RT-PCR? How does the test differentiate between COVID and other respiratory diseases? We know now that the SARS-CoV-2 virus carries flu-like symptoms, and the RT-PCR tests cannot detect which is which. All those posted positive after the RT-PCR test from the cycle threshold of over 35 are considered COVID-19, with no questions asked. • Why don’t we segregate cases according to severity? Individuals exposed to positive patients but asymptomatic should be treated as healthy and well. A study was conducted with 10,000 recipients debunking the asymptomatic transmission claim. • The Philippines, on the other hand, seems to be obstinate with the fear-mongering since we listen to statisticians instead of immunologists and virologists who can suggest what we can do to lower the contagion, if not eradicated.
