The following open letter was released by the UK Medical Freedom Alliance, Lawyers for Liberty, and Workers of England Union last August 20, 2021. In it, the authors summarize the case against compulsory vaccinations for care home workers in England which were signed into law by the UK parliament last July 13, 2021.

In the letter, the authors cited the Public Health Act 1984 which prevents governments and employers from mandating medical treatment which includes vaccinations and other prophylactic treatment. The authors add that the current contract of employment of care home workers does not stipulate the requirement to take the COVID vaccine, and enforcing mandatory COVID vaccinations is a breach of contract.

The authors also added several other considerations that employers must consider. These include the limited evidence for the efficacy of COVID vaccines, the potential for physical and psychological harm caused by vaccines and the employers’ vaccine mandates, and the potential for indirect discrimination, among others.

Editor’s Note: This open letter is very important because it provides a huge number of resources that can be used to support the position that COVID vaccinations cannot be mandated by employers. Though it was issued mainly for employers in the UK, the letter can be used as a template by any employee who wishes to protest against mandatory vaccinations.
