In this August 3, 2021 article from The New York Times, Carol Markowicz reported New York City has another bomb-shell to its citizens: Key-to-NYC Pass. The Key-to-NYC pass requires people to present proof that they have received at least one vaccine dose before they may enter certain indoor venues. This new requirement effectively prohibits unvaccinated people from participating in indoor activities. Needless to say, this will also effectively prohibit children, many of whom have not received a COVID shot, from going to public places.

The mayor explained it thus: “The key to New York City. When you hear those words, I want you to imagine the notion that because someone’s vaccinated, they can do all the amazing things that are available in this city. This is a miraculous place, literally full of wonders. And if you’re vaccinated, all of that is going to open up to you. You have the key. You can open the door.”

The report also stated that New York City was closing its doors to kids before the Mayor’s announcement. Met Opera had already banned all kids under 12 from its performances last week, and some restaurants prefer vaccinated diners.

Schools Chancellor Meisha Porter echoed the Mayor’s language in a tweet: “Vaccines are our passport out of this pandemic, and every person vaccinated is another person protected from COVID-19. As a parent, I encourage all families preparing to return to NYC Schools this fall to get your student age 12+ vaxxed by August 9.” 

Even vaccinated parents are understandably wary about getting their kids injected because they don’t need it.

Here is another point raised by the article: “If a city wanted to force out its families, it would not do things much differently than New York has done. We used to understand that families were the key to a thriving Big Apple. Now we push children out of public life, as if they are lepers, and treat them as an afterthought.” With this new requirement, the only choice for families in New York is to either take the vaccine or flee the city.

Editor’s Note: As the article has already noted, this is a ludicrous policy that will certainly drive out families from the city, if the family has the capacity to leave. In America, State policies always start from a single State and then being adopted by others. Now we must remember that there is no reason to take the vaccine, especially for children. Children have high immunity and a minuscule chance of getting infected. Why should we prohibit them from enjoying their lives as kids? Additionally, why put muffles in their mouths to lessen the contagion? Indeed, this pandemic is a scam in its entirety.
