According to Smith, this new rule will be enforced in December 2021 and is part of the country’s roadmap out of the pandemic.

Singapore’s daily infection cases continue to soar despite having one of the highest vaccination coverage in the world. According to health authorities, most cases are mild or asymptomatic. Meanwhile, Prof. Paul Tambyah, president of the Asia Pacific Society of Clinical Microbiology said that the main reason for rocketing cases was that the vaccines do not prevent transmission and their protection against infection wanes over time.

Singapore uses mostly Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for its inoculation campaign.

Take note that Singapore’s vaccination rate is at 87.28%, with 86.25% fully vaccinated. By saying that the government is going to pull out support for unvaccinated citizens who get COVID-19, is Singapore actually putting the blame on the unvaccinated for this surge in cases and deaths? What then is the point of Singapore in declaring this threat against the unvaccinated? [This is another one of many coercive strategies being employed by governments today. If vaccination cannot control the transmission and infection, then what is the purpose of vaccine passports?

We leave this article with an important puzzle for all our readers: India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Indonesia are some of the world’s most densely populated and poorest countries in the world. They have limited access to “advanced” COVID vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna. They are what experts would call, “the perfect breeding ground” for the SARS-CoV-2 to flourish.

Why then are their new cases falling while “developed countries” like New Zealand, UK, and Denmark are experiencing new surge in cases? Clue: testing and vaccines.
