The following article features a video conversation between Russell Brand and Indian scholar and environmentalist, Vandana Shiva. It was republished by The Defender on December 9, 2021.

In the 9-minute interview, Brand and Shiva talks about The Great Reset and what it means for the future of humanity. Shiva remarks that the “Reset” is “a project of extermination”. She says, “If you are creating conditions for most of humanity to not meet their basic needs, and creating a condition in which they can’t exercise their fundamental right to clean air, food, water, freedom, education or mobility … it’s an idea of dispensability equal to the idea of extermination”.

Did anyone of us elect our government leaders to bring us towards The Great Reset? Was anyone even asked if you wanted a Reset? Was anyone informed of what this Reset means?

While it is true that our pre-COVID life had its own issues, we were already on the verge of massive changes as many people were already awakening to the importance of caring for our environment, focusing on strengthening local economic systems, and prioritizing citizen welfare. How can we even believe that this Great Reset will benefit everyone when we are already seeing this early that this “new world” they are envisioning will put a majority of the world’s population into a state close to slavery? If world leaders are choosing to push through with this “new world order” by curtailing basic freedoms such as the capacity to breathe fresh air, to work and study without being discriminated against based on our medical status, to travel freely, then how can we expect that this new order will be just and equitable?
