Austrian chancellor mulls lockdown for unvaccinated

In this October 23, 2021 article, The Associated Press reports on the recent pronouncements of Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg following the “rapidly increasing [COVID] case numbers” in the country.

Schallenderg says “The pandemic is not yet in the rearview mirror…We are about to stumble into a pandemic of the unvaccinated”.

According to Schallenberg, if the number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care units in the country reaches 600 (one-third of national capacity), mobility restrictions on unvaccinated people will be imposed.

As of writing, 62.2% of Austria has been fully vaccinated and about 65.4% has received at least one dose.

Editor’s Note: What this article did not say is that a 62.2% full vaccination is pretty high. This is only a few points away from Israel’s 65.6% full vaccination rate, UK’s, 66.8%. It is actually even higher than that of the US’ 56.7% full vaccination rate.

What is the bases of Schallenberg’s pronouncements? Does he think that even more vaccination will reverse this trend?

What is the connection with locking down the unvaccinated, when both vaccinated and unvaccinated can actually be infected and can transmit the virus to others? This is the problem with many countries whose leaders do not strive to truly look at the data from other countries to guide their own decision-making. First it was the lockdowns, massive test and trace programs. Then came the vaccines and vaccine mandates. What will be next?

Only with citizen action will this scamdemic will come to an end.
