Following the recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, Palestinians in Gaza have expressed a mix of relief and skepticism. The ceasefire, which commenced on January 19, 2025, after 15 months of intense conflict, aims to halt hostilities and facilitate the release of hostages alongside humanitarian aid. Many Gazans welcomed the pause in violence, hoping it would improve living conditions and a return to normalcy. However, there are concerns about the sustainability of the ceasefire and whether it will genuinely address the underlying issues that have fueled the conflict. As aid begins to flow into Gaza, the community remains wary of future escalations and the potential for renewed violence if lasting peace is not achieved.

Editor’s Note: We seriously doubt that the ceasefire in Gaza will lead to true peace, but for the sake of the people of that area, we sincerely hope that it does. As the Israeli and Hamas weapons fall silent, the world is finally able to see the devastation of Gaza, and it is heartbreaking.¹ However will Gazans recover from the destruction of their homes if the end of the war is not guaranteed?
