The German government has signed a five-year contract with CureVac and its British counterpart, GlaxoSmithKline to produce some 80 million doses of mRNA vaccines at short notice. The contract was to bolster the country’s supplies and the doses produced may be used for the remainder of the current pandemic or for future ones.

The article also says that BioNTech, Pfizer’s partner in producing the COVID shot, has also been granted a “pandemic preparedness” contract by the German government.
