Qatar Study Shows Naturally Immune People at Little Risk of Reinfection
In this November 28, 2021 article for The Epoch Times, Zachary Stieber reports on the results of a study conducted by researchers in Qatar.
The study, which included data from 353,000 individuals who contracted COVID-19 from February 28, 2020, to April 28, 2021, showed that those who have recovered from the disease have little risk of reinfection or a severe case of the disease.
Here are some of the points found by the research:
- Only 0.4% of people with natural immunity and with no vaccination record were reinfected.
- The odds of severe disease was at 0.1 times that of primary infection.
- No cases of death were recorded among those who got infected a second time.
This study was published as correspondence by The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) last November 24, 2021: https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2108120.
Editor’s Note: Here is an addition to the growing number of researches showing that the protection from natural immunity is at least as good as a vaccine. [Evidence shows, however, that natural immunity is superior compared to vaccines, see Study of 10-million person-identifiable PCR-test in Denmark shows young people protected from SARS-CoV-2 reinfection, Hundreds of Researches Confirm Natural Immunity is Complete and Longer-lasting, More Powerful than COVID Vaccines, Immune system has 27x more protective power than vaccines: Case for COVID vaccine passports demolished, Your immune system can protect you from COVID and all its future variants, anyone who says otherwise is lying, COVID-recovered patients are protected from reinfection, no need to discriminate against them, New study from Cleveland Clinic shows vaccine provides no added benefit to those who already had COVID, Natural immunity triggered by COVID infection superior to vaccine-induced immunity, New study: T-cells induced by COVID infection can respond to new SARS-CoV-2 variants, Our immune system evolves to fight coronavirus variants].
In fact, the reality of natural immunity is already being recognized by several countries and institutions [see Spectrum Health Workers Can Use Natural Immunity as Vaccine Mandate Exemption, Italy’s Green Pass recognizes natural immunity, Why doesn’t natural immunity count in the US?].
With these facts and the reality of vaccine passports we reiterate: governments must grant vaccine exemptions for individuals with natural immunity. Not doing so means that the government is ignoring science.
In fact, what this article is showing is that natural immunity is so powerful. Combine this with a low incidence of COVID deaths for young populations, then there is no reason to coerce vaccination among young, healthy individuals [see New estimates put COVID infection fatality rate at 0.15%, CDC updates planning scenarios, shows IFR lower than flu].
