While many European countries scramble to lockdown their countries, Africa remains unfazed by COVID-19 [read Despite High Vaccination rates, Europe is Returning to Lockdowns]. Maria Cheng and Farai Mutsaka report on this story in an article published by Associated Press last November 19, 2021.

According to the report, “something mysterious is going on in Africa”. Wafaa El-Sadr, chair of global health at Columbia University, “Africa doesn’t have the vaccines and the resources to fight COVID-19 that they have in Europe and the U.S., but somehow they seem to be doing better”.

Fewer than 6% of the continent are vaccinated.
