Professors: Israel’s vaccine passport backfired, irreconcilable with basic principles of the medical profession

The following opinion piece was written by five Israeli professors: Rivka Carmi, Asa Kasher, Eitan Friedman, Yoav Yehezkelli, and Udi Qimron. It was published by The Telegraph on May 27, 2021.

In this article, the authors talk about how the Israeli Green Pass has backfired. Instead of creating “safe spaces”, it has led to exclusion, resentment, and anger.

The authors add that there is no rational public health case for the Green Pass, as well as the segregation of the vaccinated from the unvaccinated. They said, “if the vaccine’s protective capacity against a disease decreases significantly, for example, due to a new resistant variant, vaccinated individuals will become as infectious as the unvaccinated.”

They close the article with the following words: “If there is anything the UK should learn from the Israeli experiment, it is that vaccination passes are irreconcilable with the basic principles of the medical profession. Coercion has replaced autonomy, punishment has replaced compassion, checkpoints have replaced confidentiality, segregation has replaced inclusion”.

Editor’s Note: A few days after the article below was written, on June 1, 2021, the Israeli government announced the removal of the Green Pass.1https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/israel-scraps-its-redundant-vaccine-passport And while articles from mainstream media are claiming that Israel’s move is a clear indication of its vaccine success, we know better.

On May 5, 2021, the Times of Israel published a report entitled “Israel To Extend Green Pass For The Vaccinated And Recovered Until End of 2021”. If one reads that article, it was clear that the Health Ministry had every plan to continue with mass vaccinations and, in extension, the use of the Green Pass. Why the sudden change? It can’t be due to the “low infection cases and deaths”, as this has been on a general downward trend for months now.

Well, we can’t really be sure as alternative news from the country is really limited. We do know, however, that there are already a number of lawsuits filed against the government [read Israelis file lawsuit to abolish the Green Pass and Israeli Jews file petition to International Criminal Court, says Israel’s mandatory vaccination violates Nuremberg Code]. We also know that research of Israeli scientists are showing that the adverse events and deaths following vaccination is reaching record-high levels [see Expert analysis of vaccination in Israel shows more people died from vaccine than from COVID-19 itself and Israeli People’s Committee releases report of adverse events relating to COVID injections]. Whatever the reasons are, we can consider the scrapping of Israel’s Green Pass a win.

Countries looking to implement vaccine passports should look at the results of the Israel experience. We don’t need to make the same mistakes. Even the World Health Organization agrees – there is no need for mandatory vaccination, and hence, no need for vaccine passports [read W.H.O. does not back vaccine passports – for now].

Governments that fail to accept this are not acting based on science.

Now, can someone please send this article to Presidential Adviser Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion? His insistence for a vaccine pass in the Philippines runs against the very recommendations of the Department of Health [also read DOH says COVID-19 vaccination should be voluntary]. He needs to stop his delusion. Vaccine passports will not miraculously resolve the Philippines’ economic troubles.
