The following article was published by BMJ Global Health last November 3, 2023. The article is the author’s response to an announcement made by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in August 2023 that it will bankroll 48 projects that will implement AI Large Language Models (LLM) in “low-income and middle-income countries to improve the livelihood and well-being of communities globally.”

The authors say that the project of using LLMs among disadvantaged populations will do more harm than good because there are fundamental problems involving AI algorithms. For example, the data used for training these AI are low quality, and they are derived from a society that is inherently “unequal…marked by racist structural violence, the legacies of colonial rule, ongoing labor, and extraction and precarity as a new norm”.

The authors mention a second reason why we must oppose the careless deployment of AI in global health. They said that there is a “ynear complete absence of real, democratic regulation and control…The data and algorithms at the base of the LLMs of AI are owned and controlled exclusively by powerful corporate entities in the Global North”.

The article was written by Jonathan Shaffer from the University of Vermont, Arsenii Alenichev from the Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities at Oxford University, and Marlyn C Faure from The Ethics Lab at the University of Cape Town.

Editor’s Note: It is clear that the Gates Foundation wants to experiment on the populations of low and middle-income countries because our governments are naive. Our laws will not be able to protect us from their vicious plans. This is just like how they tested vaccines among Indians and Africans which ended up becoming more damaging than the initial problem they were trying to address.

The Gates Foundation is masquerading as a benefactor, but in reality, it is using its status to collect data, and then develop income-generating products and services that will only serve to enrich the foundation and its founders.

Make no mistake: The Gates Foundation does not give out its money to improve society. If we analyzed how they gave out grants using the framework we use here at CCH one will realize that the Foundation has been at the center of initiatives related to The Great Reset.
