Scientists have developed a new AI that can predict viral mutations which can then help vaccine manufacturers design more responsive vaccines and therapeutic drugs. The AI uses a modeling framework called EVEscape which utilizes various data sources in order to “express the probability that a mutation will induce immune escape…These components [that lead to immune escape] are amenable to prepandemic data sources, allowing for early warning”.
