Deadly hepatitis among children linked to lockdown
In this April 25, 2022, article published by The Telegraph, Laura Donnelly and Sarah Newey report on a “worrying” surge of hepatitis cases among young children. UK health officials say that three-quarters of the hepatitis cases detected in the past three months are linked to adenovirus, a viral infection that typically causes the common cold.
According to Dr. Meera Chand, who is heading the UK Health Security Agency’s investigation into the rise in cases, the virus may be hitting young children hardest because the lockdown restrictions meant that they were not exposed to the virus in their early years. This has then prevented their immune system from fending off the virus, hence leading to the more severe hepatitis being observed today.
Liver experts in the country are saying that the hepatitis cases are “just the tip of the iceberg”, but many are hoping that the issue will “fade out” as school returns and children build up their immunity.
Editor’s Note: For those who don’t understand how serious the situation is, an article published by CNN Health last April 25, 2022, reported that at least one child has already died from the outbreak and 17 others require liver transplants.
The collateral damage of the lockdowns is growing by the day. First, it was our economy. Now, our children. Are governments bent on destroying our capacity to thrive in the future?
We would have accepted this as a “mistake” if there was no indication that this could happen to our children. But now. As early as 2020, scientists were already warning about the impact of the lockdowns on children [see Overcome the fear: Sign petition to end lockdowns of children and the youth].
Based on the science, they expected the possible emergence of the worsened outcomes of childhood diseases as children’s immune systems were no longer trained to fight against viruses and other bacteria [see ‘Super-cold’ complaints on the rise, What happens to children’s immune systems after a year of lockdowns and social distancing?, What happens to children’s immune systems after a year of lockdowns and social distancing?].
Why did our governments ignore it? More importantly, why did doctors stay silent? Why didn’t they fight for the health of our children?
