The report quoted Lee Soo-won, a business owner from central Seoul who said, “Everyone used to be hush-hush about getting infected like you were causing a nuisance…Now we’re congratulating people on getting super immunity. The perception is it’s like getting a cold.”
The South Korean government continues to do away with its restrictive policies, allowing instead the “virus [to] move through the population, in an effort to allow small businesses to recover and normal life to resume”.
Predictably, the “health experts” are raising concern as the country slowly lifts its remaining COVID restrictions. Eom Joongsik, an infectious disease specialist at the Gachon University Gil Medical Center in Incheon says that he is worried about the other serious illnesses if the medical system were to be stretched thin, especially as 65.6% of the country’s critical care beds were already full.
