More Vaccines! This Time for Green House Gas Reduction

ArkeaBio has successfully raised $26.5 million in Series A funding to develop a vaccine to reduce methane emissions from livestock, which, according to climate scientists, are a significant contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions.

The funding round, led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures and supported by other investors, will facilitate the advancement of this innovative vaccine, designed to be cost-effective and scalable for farmers, with livestock responsible for approximately 6% of annual greenhouse gas emissions.

Editor’s Note: ArkeaBio’s focus on developing a methane vaccine for livestock appears alarmingly out of touch, especially in a world where hunger remains a pressing issue for millions. Even if the vaccine does indeed address the 6% of greenhouse gas emissions attributed to livestock, it distracts from the far more significant contributors—such as fossil fuel consumption and industrial processes—that account for the remaining 94%.

Governments have recently faced massive protests in the EU after pushing for the closure of farms. [See FARMER REVOLT IN GERMANY MORE MASSIVE AND EFFECTIVE THAN REPORTED IN MAINSTREAM MEDIA. Is this their response? Are they saying, “If you don’t want to close your farms, then we will do this”? There is no proof that these livestock vaccines will deliver what they promised. Still, we know from our experience that whatever we put into livestock also goes into our bloodstream, which can cause havoc on our health.

  1. These so called climate experts keeps on ignoring the fact that marshlands produces much methane than cows. Next time they will do something against our rice fields. The biggest contributor of greenhouse gas worldwide are the microscopic algae that floats in our oceans and these climate experts keeps on ignoring.
