The article discusses the withdrawal of a letter sent to the White House by the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC). The letter, which was signed by 30 House Liberals, urged US President Joe Biden to negotiate directly with Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
The withdrawal came a day after the letter triggered a backlash from many Democrats. According to Pramila Jayapal, chair of the CPC, the letter was signed months ago and was only released by staff without vetting. Other signatories to the letter have also withdrawn support.
Editor’s Note: In a series of tweets, former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard comments on this move by the CPC. In one tweet, she says, “This is one of the main reasons I left the Dem Party: it’s COMPLETELY controlled by an elite cabal of warmongers. Any Dem who opposes their warmongering agenda is beat into submission. Sadly, to vote Democrat is a vote for war & more war—possibly nuclear”
In another tweet, Gabbard also criticized Democrats for lacking the “courage and compassion to stand up to the warmongers who own/control the Dem Party”.
We must all realize that the Ukraine war is nothing more than a proxy war. It is the US declaring war on Russia but using a foreign country to fight its battles. While US economy suffers, Biden continues to send billions of funding to Ukraine. Why?
From the COVID-industrial complex, we are now seeing the resurgence of the military-industrial complex which is now undermining the power of democracy and the government. Politicians are no longer acting for the people they are supposed to represent and safeguard. Instead, they are only acting according to their interests which rely on the support of corporations, institutions, and individuals that are anti-people.
We are seeing history repeat, but people have failed to utilize their critical thinking. Those who used to fight for liberty and freedom are now the very same people who push for their curtailment. This is what happens when people do not understand that what they are fighting for is beyond their personal principles and beliefs.
