In an August 10, 2021 article published in Reuters, Michaela Cabrera conveyed that France President Macron declared that Parisians have to show proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test papers to visit cafes, access non-emergency treatment in a hospital, and travel.

Those citizens who refuse or are reluctant to present their papers are bound to face substantial fines, whereas business proprietors could even go to jail if they refuse to implement this new requirement.

Macron stays adamant about his policies. He says: “It’s about citizenship. Freedom only exists if the freedom of everyone is protected. It’s worth nothing if by exercising our freedom we contaminate our brother, neighbor, friend, parents, or someone we have come across at an event, then freedom becomes irresponsibility.”
