Putin Urges Iran to Exercise Restrain to Avoid Escalating Middle East Conflict

The article reports on Vladimir Putin’s advice to Iran following an attack on Israel, suggesting a surprising and potentially significant diplomatic move. Putin reportedly advised Iran’s leader to avoid escalating tensions with Israel, emphasizing the importance of reasonable restraint in preventing “a new round of confrontation fraught with catastrophic consequences for the entire region”.

This advice, given during a phone call between Putin and his Iranian counterpart, highlights Putin’s efforts to maintain stability in the Middle East amid heightened tensions. The Kremlin also stressed the hope for an immediate cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.

Editor’s Note: For someone who has been accused of wanting to start World War III, Putin has exercised great restraint in his many dealings. Russian soil has been attacked by agents who were found to have connections with Ukraine, but Putin has refused to let out Russia’s military power, even as the West continues to fund the Ukrainian war [read about that here, here, and here].

This alone should prompt people to question the claim that Putin has “revanchist and imperial ambitions”. This has been the basis of many Western nations for their support of Ukraine, despite widespread suffering within their borders.
