JP Morgan Research: Lockdowns failed to alter the course of the pandemic

Here is another research conducted by physicist and JP Morgan strategist Marko Kolanovic showing the lockdowns had no effect in controlling the spread of the coronavirus.

Two of the most glaring results in the research had something to do with infection rates and transmission rates. The report showed that most areas studied exhibited a fall in their infection rates when lockdowns were lifted. This result was found in various countries. Meanwhile in the US, transmission rates decreased in majority of states where lockdowns were ended. These results are contrary to the belief that lifting of lockdowns will cause another surge in infections.

Kolavonic says that the data from the ground does not support the claims of scientific models that there is a direct connection between economic activity and the spread of the virus. He said that the reopening of countries did not change the course of the pandemic, which meant that shutting down did not change the course of the pandemic either.

Editor’s Note: How many more evidences do we need to see before we believe that lockdowns are ineffective?
