In an age of social distancing and lockdowns, exercise becomes even more essential. In his article for the American College of Sports Medicine, Dr. Richard Simpson says that exercise does not only re-energize immunity cells so that they are ready to “patrol” and fight off diseases, it also reduces stress, lowers the tendency for viral reactivation, and avoids the negative effects of isolation and confinement.

Editor’s Note: If there is one thing you can do to support your immune system while you are locked up in your homes, it is to exercise. Science suggests that a full-body cardiorespiratory exercise yields the best result. Some examples of exercises you can do at home include jogging in place, running up and down the stairs, jumping jacks, dancing, and yoga, to name a few.
