Scientists at FDA: US Public Health Officials, Not Following Science

The following article was written by Dr. Marty Makary, a professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and Dr. Tracy Beth Høeg, an epidemiologist affiliated with the Florida Department of Health. It was published by Common Sense last July 14, 2022.

In this article, Makary and Høeg relate the calls and messages they are receiving from “doctors and scientists at the top levels of the NIH, FDA, and CDC…[who] are variously frustrated, exasperated and alarmed about the direction of the agencies to which they have devoted their careers”.

They tell us about the dropping morale within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Vaccine Research Center, whose senior scientists have left in the past year due to internal issues [see Top FDA]. According to the authors, scientists at this CDC have also experienced the same exodus. With the leadership in these two organizations weakening, scientists are starting to speak about the politicization of decisions relating to COVID and the COVID shots. In one conversation, the authors were told by a CDC scientist, “I used to be proud to tell people I work at the CDC. Now I’m embarrassed“.

The authors tried to explain the meaning behind this last statement. They said, “heads of their agencies are using weak or flawed data to make critically important public health decisions. That such decisions are being driven by what’s politically palatable to people in Washington or to the Biden administration. And that they have a myopic focus on one virus instead of overall health”.

Editor’s Note: How many more scientists need to speak up before people start questioning the basis of the illogical and unscientific policies of governments? Why are we following these “authorities” blindly when we have proven time and time again that these so-called “experts” have instituted policies that harmed our children and our societies?
