The Real Cause of the Ukraine War: NATO’s Continued Expansion

In the article, John Mearsheimer argues that the Ukraine war was primarily caused by the West’s expansionist policies, particularly NATO’s eastward enlargement and the U.S. support for Ukraine’s integration into Western institutions. He contends that these actions threatened Russia’s security interests, prompting a defensive response from Moscow. Mearsheimer emphasizes that the conflict is rooted in geopolitical dynamics rather than a simple narrative of Russian aggression, urging a reconsideration of the West’s role in escalating tensions. He calls for a more nuanced understanding of the situation, suggesting that acknowledging these factors is essential for any meaningful resolution to the conflict.

Editor’s Note: Mearsheimer’s article provides a provocative analysis of the factors contributing to the Ukraine war, challenging prevailing narratives that often simplify the conflict to a story of unprovoked aggression. By focusing on the geopolitical implications of NATO’s expansion and Western support for Ukraine, Mearsheimer encourages readers to critically examine the complexities of international relations and the consequences of foreign policy decisions. This perspective is vital for understanding the broader context of the conflict and highlights the importance of engaging with diverse viewpoints in discussions about global security. 1. As a filipino, I have seen through studying our textbook history, how we were born out of the biosocial intercourse between the government of Spain and the indigenous people of what is now known today as Filipinas that culminated in 1898. According to records, we were high in the rank of economies and education among the many nations of the world. But the americans invaded us whose actions resulted to a traumatic post natal reversal of birth. Yet at that stage, it was our defense system lead by Gen. Antonio Luna who when every system of our entity were already failing, managed to function intensively just to continue being the nation we were supposed to be in 1898. It was the kidnapping and terrorizing of our civilians that made our defense system give in. It is this reason that has been my basis why between the russians and americans, I put more credibility to the russians than the americans. That is why I believe in the U.S. Marine Scott Ritter analysis that it is the United States who are the enemy behind Ukraine in the attempt to reverse the birth of the Russian Nation. Fortunately for the russians, they have been born as a nation so much time has already past before the americans could even make any effect on that birth reversal experiment. I hope we filipinos could see the truth behind what majority of us have been synthetically developed into- worshipping the United States of America.

  2. Russia has vast amount of resources that the globalists wished to own and its one of the reasons why Russia is in trouble. Russia justified its action to invade Ukraine based on intelligence reports that Ukraine became a host to bio-weapons research of NATO and neo-Nazis. While Ukraine is losing money in the war, Zelensky is profiting from the money coming in from NATO from the sales of weapons for his wife to purchase a new Bugatti. https://stateofthenation.co/?p=236718

    1. And to think the Philippines is playing with fire, pitting the US and China, without knowing we are the ones being played. May we never be a Ukraine.
