The World Health Organization’s global pandemic preparedness agreement plan is at risk. The agreement, aimed at better-equipping countries to handle future health catastrophes, was intended to be sealed at the 2024 World Health Assembly. However, WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warns that the project could fail due to fake news, lies, and conspiracy theories. Ghebreyesus says that our failure to reach an agreement could be “a missed opportunity that future generations may not forgive us.“
