10 million children may never return to school after coronavirus

An entire generation of children had their education disrupted with the imposition of lockdowns worldwide. But even as some countries are preparing to go back to normal, a report published by Save The Children says that the economic fallout due to the pandemic would force 90 to 117 million children into poverty. And as young people are required to work or forced into early marriage in order to support their families, 7 to 9.7 million students may drop out of school permanently. 

Editor’s Note: Obviously when lockdowns were first imposed, these kinds of impacts were never really considered. This article drives home the point that we must stop making short-sighted decisions that are based on fear. The few months of lockdowns will have an impact that will last for generations. Even after we die, our children will still experience the effects of the mistake we have made. 

If another disease threatens us again, may we learn to use the evidence from science and global experience before we make decisions that could impact our children. The priority is to safeguard the future of our children, for it is after all, to them that we bequeath this world.

If there is a sacrifice that must be made, it must be paid for by the parents, not the children. If a decision affects both the parents and their children, then a new solution must be created. We must realize that if we do not protect our children’s future, there is no purpose to our fear, no meaning to our actions today. 

We must ensure that our children are fully equipped to handle the challenges of the future. To do that, we must understand our own challenges, and we must make decisions based on evidence and our own inner knowing [read END THE LOCKDOWNS! Stop It Outside By Ending the Lockdowns Inside Us].
