Iceland testing shows that half of coronavirus carriers have no symptoms

0

Iceland has tested 5% of its entire population for SARS-COV-2, and though less than 1% have come back positive for the virus, authorities say that half of those infected are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.

The data is currently being used to support the move towards widescale lockdowns. But there is one important question that remains ignored: What do asymptomatic individuals have that allow them to overcome COVID-19?

Editor’s Note: Data from Iceland can also point towards herd immunity. When more members of the population have already been infected with the virus, and their strong immune systems have successfully fought it off, there is hope for curbing the fatal impact of COVID-19 and other possible mutations of the novel coronavirus.
