The world is longing for peace in Ukraine. But this fervent wish is not to be. A convergence of factors will ensure that war will continue in Ukraine. Russia will defeat Ukraine in devasting field battles killing tens of thousands of Ukrainians and destroying their military equipment. The West will not be able stop this drama from reaching its tragic end.
Consider the current position of the major combatants in this war in Ukraine. For brevity and clarity, bullet points will be used to illustrate the point. These bullet points will not be exhaustive. It would take dozens of pages with the proper objective sources to verify the facts that follow below.
Ukraine
- Despite denials in Ukraine and the West, more than 1 million soldiers have been killed. Another million or more are severely wounded.
- Ukraine has been kicked out of the Kursch and Belgorod regions of Russia where more than 80,000 Ukrainian soldiers were killed. Many analysts considered this move a strategic blunder by Ukraine.
- Ukraine is running out of soldiers. They are forcing younger and older Ukrainians to join the army, train them a few weeks, and send them to the front lines to be slaughtered and killed.
- Increasingly social media is full of videos of Ukrainian soldiers complaining against these forced recruitment efforts and lack of concern for the lives of soldiers and chaos in the front lines.
- Due to lack of soldiers and military hardware, Ukraine is losing villages and towns on a daily basis. The major strategic city of Pokrovsk is surrounded and about to fall.
- Despite these massive setbacks, Ukraine has resorted to information warfare, claiming incessantly that they are either in stalemate with or winning the battle and/or are about to defeat Russia. They use this psychological warfare on their own despairing citizens and to fool their Western allies to continue giving them weapons and ammunitions.
- Despite their obvious defeats, Ukraine’s negotiating position is that all territories conquered by Russia should be retained to Ukraine. They either ignore or belittle the fact that the four territories involved have already voted overwhelmingly to join the Russian Federation. International neutral observers have judged these referendums to be non-violent, fair and accurate.
- Ukraine also insists in joining NATO, ignoring the reality that the decade-long conflict between Ukraine and Russia is due to NATO’s strategic goal to defeat Russia and break it up.
- If Russian forces and firepower were stationed in Mexico, the US would immediately raise hell and demand the Russians to leave Mexico immediately. If not, the US would declare war on both Mexico and Russia.
- People have forgotten how the world was almost destroyed in a nuclear war between the USSR and the US when the latter discovered that the USSR had built missile launching sites in Cuba, a neighbor of the USA.
- Ukraine also insists on a one month cease fire, without any preconditions. The last time Russia granted this in the Minsk 2 Agreement in 2015 Ukraine did not honor the Treaty. Instead, they publicly admitted that they used the ceasefire to build up its army to kill over 14,000 Russian-speaking residents in South and Eastern Ukraine.
- Zelensky himself is caught in a dilemma. His powerful armed Ukrainian Nazi supporters have threatened to kill him should he pursue real peace. In addition, his fanatical and delusional European allies continue to badger him not to yield to real peace negotiations.
Russia
- Despite massive claims by Western propaganda in its mainstream media, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was provoked. See the meticulously researched book by Scott Horton, Provoked: How Washington Started the New Cold War with Russia and the Catastrophe in Ukraine, available at Amazon.
- The US and NATO have been provoking Russia by their massacre of Russian-speaking citizens in the Donbass and Lugansk areas of Ukraine. The oppressed and murdered citizens of these regions sought Russian help for years.
- Russia initially did not want to annex both regions. Instead, they brokered a peace deal which would allow the two regions to remain peacefully within Ukraine. So much for accusations against Russia that it wanted to re-establish the Soviet USSR empire. Baseless.
- After a failed attempt to bring peace, which Ukraine and the West (US + NATO) ignored, Russia decided to launch its Special Miliary Operation (SMO).
- The Russian conditions for peace have been consistently laid out and explained. Ukraine, the US, NATO, and the EU ignored such conditions.
- Russians, having learned from past betrayals of promises and Agreements with and by Ukraine, NATO and the US, are wary of an unconditional 30-day ceasefire. They view such a call as a trap. They see this call as a ploy to give time for Ukraine to replenish its defeated military force and ship in more military hardware and ammunition from the US and NATO.
- As Trump admonished Zelensky in their infamous brawl of words at the White House, Ukraine has no cards to play. On the other hand, Russia is winning on all aspects of the war in Ukraine.
- Russia will not weaken its negotiating position by pleasing the unreasonable and manipulative demand of Ukraine, NATO, US and the West.
- Thus, the standoff: Ukraine wants a 30-day unconditional ceasefire. Russia: no way.
The United States of America
- The US is not a neutral broker in the search for peace in Ukraine.
- Since the end of the Cold War, the US has sought the strategic defeat of Russia.
- It continued to lie to Russia regarding promises not to expand NATO to the borders of Russia, an agreement that convinced the USSR to free Eastern Germany from its control.
- The US consistently violated its agreement with Russia not to expand NATO. The Russians started to publicly warn the US regarding NATO expansion.
- Meanwhile, the US plotted a coup to take down the government of Yanukovych, the 4th President of Ukraine. Yanukovych was neither pro or anti-Russia. The US did not like this neutral stance. The US used the CIA to spark a successful coup that removed Yanukovych from power.
- Trump has continuously bragged that, while Obama sent blankets to Ukraine, he sent Patriot missiles to fight the Russians.
- Biden continued the anti-Russian policy of Trump with billions of dollars of military support and access by Ukraine to US intelligence capabilities.
- The US has clearly used Ukraine as its proxy in its strategic war against Russia.
- How can the US, the primary combatant against Russia, pretend to be the peace broker?
- Adding insult to injury, Trump’s approach to negotiations with Russia is to threaten the latter with massive sanctions. Russia just shrugs off such threats as the US and its allies have already imposed all kinds of economic sanctions on Russia, with no effect.
- Meanwhile, Trump gradually realized the mistake of his boast regarding establishing peace in “24 hours”. He sent Steve Witkoff to negotiate with Putin to achieve greater understanding. That seemed to work. But now, Trump has taken the side of his war-hawk negotiator, Keith Kellogg, a lackey of Europe and Ukraine. Now he is supporting the highly contentious 30-day ceasefire without preconditions.
EUROPE (NATO, EU AND UK)
- NATO has been the battering ram of the US Empire in its plan to achieve a strategic victory against Russia.
- Under US leadership, NATO continued to expand its base and forces closer and closer to Russia.
- When NATO reached Ukraine, the Russians responded by invading Ukraine.
- NATO and EU quietly sent in mercenaries to fight with the Ukrainian army. NATO also sent military advisers and weapons. Both also gave billions of dollars to support the war against Russia.
- Citizens in Europe started criticizing and resisting the war-mongering stance of their leaders. However, EU leaders basically ignored the sentiments of their own citizens who are already suffering from the economic sanctions imposed against Russia.
- Ukraine was about to sign a peace deal with Russia in April 2022. But then UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, flew to Kiev, at the behest of the US, and convinced Zelensky not to sign the peace agreement.
- Ever since, UK, Europe and NATO have been aggressive in their rhetoric and actions against Russia. With their advice and help, they kept on crossing the red lines of Russia, hoping to trigger a nuclear World War III.
- Putin’s cool but devastating response silenced this aggression for some time. Remember the Oreshnik missile nightmare of the West?
- NATO, EU, and the UK continue to stoke the flames of war in Ukraine. They beset Trump’s initiative at every step as they have the ears of their puppet, Zelensky.
- When Zelensky displayed rude behavior in front of Trump and VP Vance at the White House, European leaders gave a rousing and fanatically warm welcome to Zelensky upon the latter’s arrival in Europe.
- Their continued irrational support gives Zelensky the courage to continue stalling the peace process, screaming out all kinds of dire consequences against Russia should the latter ignore their delusional deadlines.
Conclusion
Given this complex, conflicting and unyielding positions from all key parties, it is clear. There will be no negotiated peace in Ukraine. The war in Ukraine will end only with the total defeat of Ukraine. A sad fate for a country whose people, most of them, are coerced to supporting a domestic Nazi regime and a foreign imperial agenda many of them are not even aware of.
Meanwhile, with the defeat of Ukraine, the US Empire’s decline will accelerate. NATO, EU, UK and the rest of the West will also plunge into decline into irrelevance, confusion and chaos. Their “privileged” positions as lapdog of imperial US will be gone. If delusional leaders are kicked out by their citizens and replaced by more mature and rational statesmen, Europe will be forced to seek a new and more constructed role among the family of nations in the world.
Finally, the world, freed from the grip of a stagnating West and the moral and actual collapse of the US Empire will see the rise of truly independent nations, seeking autonomy and sovereignty. The world will have seen through the tragedy of being a proxy for the useless wars of imperial powers. This trap they will avoid in their search for a better future and destiny for their countries.
