Editor’s Note
The world is buzzing with the question. Why does Putin perceive Traore to be so important that he would use a private Russian jet plane to pick up the African leader and fly him to Moscow?
The answer lies at the increasing influence and visibly heroic deeds of Traore.
Just yesterday, Covid Call to Humanity (CCH) wrote about the strategic importance of President Traore in his country, in Africa and in the world. As there have been several assassination attempts against Traore, Putin did not want to see his good friend murdured on his way to Moscow. This development independently confirms CCH perspective on the important developments unfolding in Burkina Faso and Africa. Russia Gives Special Treatment to African Leader Traore. Picks Him Up by Private Plane and Flies Him to Moscow
The ties between Russia and Burkina Faso are not instrumental. It cannot be instrumental. Traore is one of the most prominent of new breed of African leaders who want to assert African identity, freedom, independence and the capacity of Africans to chart their own destiny.
Putin, on the other hand, is increasingly fleshing out his vision of a multi-polar world where sovereignty and self-determination are respected. Hence, the diplomatic ties between Russia and Burkina Faso promise to strengthen and widen in the strategic future.
Africa is now a new source of hope for citizens of other countries longing to shed the centuries old decay of democractic ideals and the seemingly unstoppable erosioin of moral clarity and courage in the world
