In support of his resolution, Sanders gave a detailed description of the genocidal actions of Israel against the Palestinians and the massive role that US is playing in the on-going genocide in Gaza.
His resolution did not pass. All Republican Senators rejected it. Only 15 Democrat Senators supported it.
There are four important lessons to be gathered in this failed attempt to stop huge US support the genocide taking place in Gaza.
First, there are still some voices of reason and conscience in side of the Democrats. This is surprising given their dismal and childish behavior during the first report of Trump before the US Congress. This was not a political ploy, although it could be construed as such. The facts marshalled by Sanders to support his resolution were all-encompassing and persuasive. Any sane US Senator would surely have voted for the Resolution.
Second, the zero support that the Sander resolutions received from the Senate Republicans demonstrated that the Zionist regime in Israel is in total control of the Republican Party. One cannot expect much creative and moral action to come out in the future from the side of the Republicans.
Third, Trump obviously did not lobby to support the Resolution. Trump usually persuades legislators when there is a law or resolution he wants passed. Not this one. Trump thus displayed his true Zionist colors by being the protagonist of the on-going mass murder of Palestinians, especially children, in Gaza.
Fourth, the US clearly demonstrated before the world that it has lost its moral bearings by continuing to support the criminal murderous genocide being inflicted on the Palestinian people by the Zionist government in Israel.
When an Empire is morally bankrupt, it has no moral authority to influence the world. Not that the Empire was good in the first place. But the US will increasingly be a pariah in the global community, a nation that will increasingly be viewed as violent and untrustworthy.
Given this global resentment, the US Empire will not last. It will not be seen as a force of good in the world. It will be viewed as a criminal bully, sowing chaos and destruction throughout the world. The US Empire will be remembered as one that supported genocide and mass murders instead of peace.
Such a tragedy for people of the United States when their own leaders do not listen to the vast majority of Americans who are not supporting the genocide in Gaza.
