Zelensky: Army of Europe Needed To Challenge Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking at the Munich Security Conference, emphasized the urgent need for Europe to establish its own military force amid concerns over diminishing U.S. support. He criticized the recent peace talks initiated by former President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, asserting that Ukraine must be involved in any negotiations affecting its future. Zelensky highlighted that the traditional U.S.-Europe alliance is changing, with Trump’s envoy suggesting that Europe may be sidelined in future discussions. As the conflict with Russia approaches its third anniversary, Zelensky reiterated Ukraine’s stance on NATO membership and called for European leaders to develop their own strategies, warning against reliance on external powers for security.
Editor’s Note: As we read this article, we are these lyrics from a song, “You can’t talk peace and have a gun.” Since when did more military power mean higher security? Surely, high military presence did not stop the total destruction of Gaza, and it did not promote human rights in the West Bank. An organized army did not stop the war in Ukraine from happening. Creating a European Military will only lead to one thing: the escalation of war in Ukraine and the possibility of World War III.
