Hypocritical Europe Re-Elects “Secretive, Controlling” Von der Leyen
In this article for Politico, authors Nicholas Vinocur and Barbara Moens weigh in on the re-election of Ursula von der Leyen as head of the European Union.
According to the authors, von der Leyen’s next five years will be “extremely difficult” owing to various factors: her critics, who claim that she is “controlling, secretive, and distant,” her role in negotiating a secret contract with Pfizer, her bias toward Israel, her unpopular policies, and, of course, a potential Trump presidency.
Editor’s Note: For a time, it seemed like Europe was finally freeing itself from the clutches of its corrupt leadership. But it was all short-lived, as the same people who had caused von der Leyen’s downfall1https://www.politico.eu/article/eus-top-court-rules-against-european-commission-in-vaccine-contracts-transparency-case/ have also brought her back to power.2https://www.politico.eu/article/ursula-von-der-leyen-reelected-european-commission-president-second-term/
This is how politics plays out in Europe. Ultimately, what matters is not people’s well-being but rather a country’s diplomatic standing. Truly, “double standards” are a standard in hypocritical Europe.3See how this hypocrisy plays out in the EU’s policies for Israel, Ukraine, Iraq, and Climate Change, watch this video
