Global Tech Outage: A Wake-Up Call for Decentralization
A global tech outage caused by a CrowdStrike software update disrupted operations across multiple industries, including airlines, banking, healthcare, and broadcasting. Major U.S. airlines grounded flights, while banks and financial services worldwide experienced disruptions. In the Philippines, major banks and budget airlines like Cebu Pacific and AirAsia were affected, necessitating manual processes. Microsoft’s Azure cloud unit acknowledged the issue impacting Windows devices. The outage, not suspected to be a cyber attack, highlighted the risks of reliance on cloud-based services.

While the immediate focus has been on the disruption of operations across airlines, banks, healthcare services, and broadcasters, a more pressing concern looms over the security of the confidential information of millions of clients.
Perhaps it is time to re-evaluate our approach and consider a back-to-basics world where decentralization is prioritized. This could be a wake-up call to all. [See also: Global Tech Outage Shows Dangers of Centralized Internet, Global Tech Outage Exposes Vulnerabilities of Cloud Dependency]
