As the deadline for the submission of amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR) nears, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Economic Forum (WEF), have taken it upon themselves to raise the “risk” posed by Disease X.

Scientists are concerned that the new pandemic will be “as infectious as measles with the fatality rate of Ebola”, and that societies must prepare for its coming. Hence, the WEF has Disease X as a priority in its next meeting at Davos

The National World quotes Professor Sir Andrew Pollard, the chairman of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation, who said that future pandemics could be due to various factors, including climate change”.
